2017 First Look for Charity

First Look for Charity is an annual fundraising event hosted by the Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place Chicago. Attendees have a chance to preview the Auto Show while supporting their charity of choice. MAKE attended as a sponsor for Special Olympics Illinois for the fourth consecutive year. The event raised $2.5 million for 18 charities across Chicago.

Feed My Starving Children Hope Filled Holiday

We had the opportunity to spend the weekend with Feed My Starving Children – Schaumburg for their Hope Filled Holiday event! We had over 100 team members, family and friends help us work toward the goal of packing 1.5 million meals for children at Mission of Hope: Haiti and around the world. Holiday Card Design Contest

In effort to spread PEACE this holiday season, MAKE hosted a card design contest for all of our consultants and staff. The winning illustration received $500 and will be featured in our annual holiday e-card. Here were a few of the wonderful submissions we received. TechServe Alliance 2016 Annual Conference

TechServe’s 2016 Annual Conference was held last week in Amelia Island, Florida. For 15+ years, MAKE Corporation has attended this conference which focuses on the issues and trends driving the IT & engineering staffing and solutions industry.
Guest speakers, such as Professor and author Michael Roberto of Bryant University, discussed how to build consensus and align your team behind decisions. Alan Beaulieu, a leading economist with a record of 94.7% accuracy in economic forecasts, dove into what actions businesses should take in response to the economic landscape. Karen Wilson, President & CEO at MAKE Corporation, along with other business owners, discussed how to successfully leverage relationships in a VMS world.

The weekend ended with the TechServe Alliance Executive Women’s Luncheon. This year’s lunch was moderated by Leslie Vickrey, CEO, ClearEdge Marketing, where she interviewed Sue Thaden, President/CEO, CRi, and Karen Wilson, President/CEO at MAKE. The women discussed how they got started in staffing, what risks they took over the years and how they built confidence as a strong female leader in the industry.FullSizeRender

Raising green on the green for children’s charities at the Southwest Airlines LUV Classic!

The 31st Annual LUV Classic Golf Tournament was held on October 7 and raised $625,000 for children’s charities, including: Children’s Hospital Colorado, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), Knights of Heroes, and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). MAKE Corporation participated as a sponsor for the third year.

MAKE Corporation’s team pulled a United Airlines Boeing 737 plane across 12 feet in 8.6 seconds. 73 teams participated and raised $140,000 for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois!

2016 Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby

50,000 rubber ducks floated down the Chicago River yesterday for the 11th Annual Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby! For the fourth year, MAKE purchased each of our consultants and the entire MAKE staff a duck in support of this signature annual fundraiser for Special Olympics Illinois. It is incredible to see Chicago come together to support the athletes and contribute to the success of this race year after year. We are already looking forward to next year’s race!IMG_4986

Special Olympics Illinois 2016 Summer Games

The 2016 Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games were held this past weekend in Bloomington/Normal, IL. Over 3,900 athletes competed in 6 different sports.
MAKE Corporation’s Steve & Karen Wilson had the opportunity to be a part of the Tribute to Champions to kick off the weekend and also serve as honorary coaches for the Parade of Athletes at the opening ceremonies. MAKE the Difference for Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children is always one of our favorite community events at MAKE. Our teams have the opportunity to spend an evening fighting world hunger and contribute to the 63 million meals sent out annually by Feed My Starving Children. We have been able to participate at the Aurora, IL location and even at mobile-pack events in Dallas, TX.

MAKE the Difference for Ronald McDonald House Charities

Several of our MAKE team members have had first-hand experience with the service and care provided by Ronald McDonald Houses and we are always seeking new ways to give back to this organization. Throughout each year, MAKE employees cook meals at Ronald McDonald Houses in Chicago, Dallas, and Oklahoma City. We were “Guest Chefs” for a total of 16 meals over the past year. We also had the opportunity to be a part of this year’s Southwest Airlines LUV Classic. We LUV supporting Ronald McDonald House!
