The Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby is a signature annual fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics Illinois. MAKE is an a big fan of this event! For the second year, MAKE purchased each of our Illinois consultants and the entire MAKE staff a duck for the derby. MAKE Corporation President and CEO Karen Wilson shares why she chooses to support the event:
“The Rubber Ducky Derby is a fantastic way for people to meet Special Olympics athletes and their families who are onsite supporting the event. Their smiles are infectious and give a glimpse of the kind of fun and opportunity that Special Olympics provides to these athletes.”
MAKE’s Chicago Customer Service Representatives also attended the event after dropping off ducky adoption papers to our consultants throughout the week:
“The overwhelming support and love that everyone showed was truly inspiring. All the kids were laughing, dancing, and taking pictures with mascots. It’s amazing to see how much support the athletes have, from their closest family members to complete strangers. The Ducky Derby was a huge success and I feel honored to have been a part of it with MAKE. It’s really nice to support something together as a company and also involve our consultants. Supporting events such as this is just one of the reasons I am proud to work for MAKE Corporation.” – Jess Piper, MAKE Chicago Customer Service Representative
“Jess and I were up close in action to see Ella, one of the Special Olympics athletes, retrieve the winning ducky and it was a fun and exciting moment for everyone. This was my second year attending the Ducky Derby and once again, I was amazed to see all of those who support Special Olympics Illinois attending the event. Giving back to the community is one of MAKE Corporation’s core values and it was fun to share this experience with our consultants and customers. We received great feedback from our participants and we look forward to next year’s Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby!” – Diana Jacklin, MAKE Chicago Customer Service Representative
